Synopsis:
|
It has been widely believed that human beings can live if you have a house, food and clothing. It's not true. You need one more thing, Ki. Without Ki you cannot live even for a second.
Any living creatures are the results of exchange of Ki of itself and the rest of universe. Human beings are no exceptions.
What you believe as yourself does not exist on its own. Every single second the exchange of Ki with the rest of the universe enables you survive. You stop exchanging your Ki with the rest of the universe only when you die.
Other animals, plants, trees or even amoebas do exactly the same. They take Ki from outside and exhale another Ki to the outer world.
In 1974, Mr. Tohei was present at a specially prepared seminar in U.S. with Dr. Melvin from University of Pennsylvania and so many participants to discuss Ki in scientific ways. Dr. Melvin, who was a noted Professor in Physics asked him to explain Ki using mathematics.
" Can you explain it with math? " He asked.
Mr. Tohei replied with smile on his face.
"Of course. For math, the notion of one is essential, correct?"
"Yes. No question." Dr. Melvin said immediately.
" The universe is full of zillions of ones. You are one, I am one. The universe is another one. Each one of those ones will never be divided into zero. Even if you divide the number 1, that will never be zero. Right? This is the key to understand what Ki is. Ki is something that enables each one of those existences.
The audience there got so impressed with his explanation. The doctor did not get entirely satisfied with the answer, but felt that Tohei's notions is not an entire contradiction.
Mr. Tohei went over to America over and over again to teach Ki and Aikido. Nowadays, thousands of American colleges have Aikido as an official athletic course. Mr.Tohei has contributed to it as the main teacher of this foreign but uniquely effective martial arts.
He sometimes holds Ki workshops both outside and inside Japan to teach new comers what Ki is and how you can use Ki to improve your health and, eventually, the quality of your life.
His teachings are concrete and easy to follow. For example, if your eyeballs get tired out of a long hour computer works, you concentrate your consciousness on your finger tips and massage your cheek bones slowly with them.
