From the Editor:
During the process of preparing this book, the one-day interview I had with President Ichimura left a strong impression on me. Mr. Ichimura leaves for work at 6 a.m. He doesn't sit down to eat lunch, and his day is divided into three cycles--morning, afternoon and evening. I wanted to experience that amazing lifestyle for myself, so I asked him to let me follow him around for one day.
On the day of the interview, Mr. Ichimura arrived at the office at 6 a.m., while it was still slightly dark. The office meeting began promptly at 6:30. I was allowed to sit in on the meeting, and I trembled for a brief moment as I watched him directing the employees. He had appointments with no breaks between them throughout the day, and when he went to the dining, hall at the end of a demanding day, I became acutely aware of my own lack of effort as I thought "He has a different kind of motivation." Incidentally, on that day, I sat down to have my lunch, but Mr. Ichimura skipped his meal as usual. The secret of Mr. Ichimura's vigor is packaged and revealed in this book, which I recommend to amateur businessmen and experienced proprietors, as well as to all working people.
Author:Hirofumi Ichimura
Hirofumi Ichimura was born in Hokkaido in 1959 and studied sociology at Rikkyo University. He organized students' trips while he was a university student and planned 1,000 bus-ski tours a year, making 6 billion yen in four years. He was a successful student entrepreneur, and after graduating he started working at Nomura Securities.
While working at the Nomura Building in Shinjuku, he demonstrated his abilities when he took over deposited assets of 2 billion yen and increased them to 200 billion yen, among other feats. His personal mutual fund sales were 50 billion yen per month, and his monthly commission income reached a record 600 million yen. After that, he became the youngest executive in the company when he was promoted to Aomori branch manager. He went on to work in the sales division at the Nomura Securities head office, taking the elite course. He was scouted for a senior managing director position by KOBE Securities. When he later became the company president there, he secured 1.44 trillion yen in deposited assets, and through his guidance, the deposited assets per capita at KOBE Securities surpassed those of Nomura Securities. His independent securities firm ranked an impressive 12th place in the Brokerage Firms League Table (2003), and its stocks went public in March 2006.
Since April 2007, as the Representative Director of First Village, he has been conducting business consultations for M&A.
