Sunmark Publishing Rights Highlights
and NEWS Mail--June 2018 Issue

This April my daughter became 20 years old, which is officially Coming of Age in Japan. She now can vote, drink, and smoke if she wishes, depending on her own will as an adult.

I now have been working for almost 20 years as an acquisitions editor and rights staff member for Sunmark Publishing. Maybe, then, this year is my Coming of Age as a Sunmark person.

It’s a happy coincidence that a new fair, the New York Rights Fair, starts the 30th of this May. Sunmark Publishing has a booth, No. 214, on Level 2, so please come by to see us and let’s talk about some exciting and mutually beneficial new business!

If you have any questions or inquiries about this NEWS Mail, please contact Ms. Shino Kobayashi, Rights Manager (rights@sunmark.co.jp).

Topic of the Month

We will exhibit at the very first New York Rights Fair, held in NYC from May 30th to June 1st.

The New York Rights Fair will be held from May 30th to June 1st as the first trade and licensing show in the U.S. dedicated to the buying and selling of international rights. It will take place at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan, and we from Sunmark Publishing will have a stand at the fair. It will be great if we can meet you there!

Now is the time to move, to keep moving and get results.
Now is the time to be proud of yourself.

Description

Are you tired of being so half-hearted?

You stop halfway through books and your studies.

You can’t put all of your heart into your work.

You’ve had no real achievements or results.

You can’t really be serious about anything.

You can’t follow things through.

This book will break you free from such a vicious cycle and teach you how to become a person who starts, follows through, and enjoys real results, regardless of your personality type or currently low motivation level.

One characteristic of people who work hard to reach their goals is something the author calls “big action.” The only way to make a real change is to take a lot of action. The secret to this is outside help, or the ability to utilize the strength of others, available systems, the environment you’re in, and other relevant information.

Those who do this get the best results. But that’s just the beginning. Outside help consists of much more than what is mentioned here.

It also includes your thoughts, feelings, and body. Actually, these are three things that you can’t completely control. You can’t stop yourself from thinking about things. You may be able to keep yourself from sleeping for a little while, but not for long. And sometimes, you can’t help but feel sad.

Author Toyokazu Tsuruta is a behavioral psychology consultant who incorporates his own experiences with half-heartedness and struggling to motivate himself, providing clear explanations for how to get moving and find your inner genius.

◎ There is also a gem hidden in things you feel positively about

◎ There is a limit to how much willpower you can use in one day

◎ The time you feel half-hearted is your biggest chance to grow

From the editor "Catty"

This book turned into something different from what was originally planned. During one of our various meetings, Toyokazu Tsuruta told me that he has people in his life who are inconvenienced by their half-heartedness. We decided on the book’s theme at that moment. This book explains that outside help is needed to take a lot of action towards moving away from half-heartedness. Learn how to recognize these outside factors and to utilize your thoughts, feelings, and body!

What has cutting-edge brain science proven about how dopamine control influences our motivation and activeness?

Description

It’s all about immediacy, frequency, continuation, decisiveness, and being up for the challenge.

How are leading athletes, entrepreneurs, doctors, and developers able to achieve all of these? The answer is dopamine, the pleasure-providing chemical in the brain. Proper dopamine control can improve motivation and strength. The secret to turning your lazy brain into a motivated brain lies in controlling dopamine levels. In this book, a neurosurgeon provides an explanation backed by leading brain science.

This book is for those who can’t “get up and go,” those who can’t finish what they’ve started, and those who hesitate to take up a new challenge.
